Achievement - British Coal Industry
EDM number 573 in 1990-91, proposed by Peter Hardy on 06/03/1991.
That this House notes that British Coal has kept coal price increases well below the rate of inflation for a long period and that it has pegged the price paid by the generating companies at approximately five per cent. below the rate of inflation for the duration of their present contracts; accepts that this pricing policy has been made possible by an enormous increase in productivity; and suggests that Her Majesty's Government and the generating companies should not look this gift horse in the mouth by encouraging or developing any reliance upon overseas supplies of fuel.
This motion has been signed by a total of 34 MPs.
