B.r.e.l. Redundancies
EDM number 571 in 1990-91, proposed by Michael J Martin on 06/03/1991.
That this House views with grave concern the decision of B.R.E.L. to declare 1,200 of its workforce redundant, in spite of the fact that when this Company took over from British Rail, it promised an increased workload, based on potential overseas orders and alternative engineering work; notes that this work has not materialised; and urges the Government to invest in a railway system which would bring Britain's rail transport system up to the standards of Germany, France and Italy.
This motion has been signed by a total of 34 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
