Closure Of Blast Furnace At Ravenscraig
EDM number 519 in 1990-91, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 22/02/1991.
That this House deplores the announcement of the closure of the blast furnace at Ravenscraig and the consequent loss of 1,100 jobs; condemns the behaviour of British Steel in making this announcement before the Report from the Trade and Industry Select Committee is published; demands that the Scottish Office intervenes to prevent the dismemberment of the Scottish steel industry which is a vital element of Scottish manufacturing; and believes that there would be a viable future for an independent Scottish steel industry freed from British Steel's control.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
