Disability Costs
EDM number 508 in 1990-91, proposed by Roger Sims on 20/02/1991.
That this House notes that disabled people have many extra costs because of disability such as diet, heating, laundry, communication, and clothing, and that severely disabled people often incur very high disability costs; welcomes the fact that the budget for the Independent Living Fund is now ú62 million; notes that the Government's proposals for a disability living allowance contain no proposals to meet costs other than care and mobility and that there are no long-term proposals to meet the high costs severely disabled people face; and calls upon the Government to introduce proposals to meet these extra costs and to establish the Independent Living Fund on a statutory basis.
