Nurses Regrading
EDM number 501 in 1990-91, proposed by Jack Thompson on 19/02/1991.
That this House notes with concern that, in responding to a series of written questions about nurses' regrading appeals from the honourable Member for Wansbeck, seeking information about the average cost of an appeal tribunal, and about the numbers awaiting regrading assessment in the National Health Service, in the Northern Regional Health Authority and in the Northumberland District Health Authority, the Minister of State for Health, the honourable Member for South West Surrey, admitted that this information was not collected centrally, which reflects the lack of interest in nurses' conditions of employment and the reluctance to resolve a serious and ongoing cause of discontent and low morale in the nursing profession.
