Smoking Bans On London Transport

EDM number 471 in 1990-91, proposed by Roger Sims on 13/02/1991.

That this House congratulates London Buses Limited following the introduction of a no smoking rule on all of its buses from 14th February; notes that this rule, along with the ban on smoking on London Underground and on rail journeys of 30 miles or less on Network South-East trains, means that the only public transport passengers travelling in London who are not guaranteed smoke-free air are those who travel in cabs licensed by the Public Carriage Office; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to introduce legislation that will allow London's black cab drivers to prohibit smoking in their cabs if they so wish.
