Waterloo Cup

That this House notes with approval the decision of Sefton District Council on Merseyside to call upon Lord Leverhulme, the owner of the Altcar estate, to ban the barbaric Waterloo Cup hare-coursing event which takes place there annually; commends their refusal to allow borough facilities to be used for hare coursing and its promotion; further supports the Council's call for the Home Secretary to ban this bloodthirsty and sadistic so-called sport; and believes that legislation is urgently required to outlaw the practice of hare-coursing anywhere in the United Kingdom.
