Offences Under The 1988 Scotch Whisky Act

That this House congratulates the Scotch Whisky Association, United Distillers and William Grant and Sons in obtaining the first permanent High Court injunction under the new Scotch Whisky Act 1983, which protects the quality and reputation of Scotch whisky, against Tower Bridge Distillers, Wilmslow, Cheshire, for allegedly marketing immature spirits under its Royal Castle and Black Flagon labels as genuine Scotch; and further deplores attempts by companies to pass off counterfeit spirits described as Scotch whisky.
