Tie-Up Regulations For Fishing Boats
EDM number 442 in 1990-91, proposed by Alex Salmond on 08/02/1991.
That this House warns the Government that the present hardline enforcement of the continuous eight day tie-up regulations by which fishing boats are being penalised for short non-fishing trips is risking total chaos in the fishing industry and pushing fishermen towards all out confrontation; and further demands that given the life threatening nature of this measure the relevant Statutory Instrument is set aside, at least pending a specific Commons debate on the wisdom of the policy.
