Independent Christian Schools
EDM number 436 in 1990-91, proposed by David Alton on 07/02/1991.
That this House believes that the Government should encourage legislation which would lead new independent Christian schools and schools of other faiths to apply for voluntary aided status, and extend eligibility for grant maintained status; recognises that many parents will welcome the opportunity to send their children to schools with a less secular environment than that available in many state schools; and congratulates those parents and staff who have established these alternative schools, often at great personal hardship.
This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
