Palestine And Cambodia

EDM number 403 in 1990-91, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 05/02/1991.

That this House, if not Her Majesty's Government, is aware that the misguided rush to war in the Persian Gulf has created an almost impossible situation for Palestinians in the occupied territories subject to UN Resolutions 242 and 338; is embarrassed by the persistent justification of the new imperialism of this war as a fight for freedom and democracy whilst Palestinians are deprived of their elementary human rights by the Israeli occupying forces and subjected to 24 hour curfew with all the terrible consequences this implies for them and their children; will not accept as champions of a new international order and human rights those violators of international law in Grenada and Panama, who are also the protectors of Pol Pot, now embarked in a renewed attack on the long-suffering Cambodian people; demands that Her Majesty's Government and the European Community immediately take action to effectively protect the Palestinian people from further Israeli repression and to stop a war which only benefits the arms dealers, the Israeli extreme right and the energy wasteful in the world; demands also action against the murderous Pol Pot and his allies in Cambodia; and apologises to Arab and Muslim peoples and the caring Christians and Jews for the terrible consequences which will result from this war.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
