Telephone Subscribers Cancellation Of Debt
EDM number 375 in 1990-91, proposed by Terry Lewis on 29/01/1991.
That this House notes with satisfaction that, at last, British Telecom plc has acted positively in an effort to prevent further abuse of Chatline and other telephone premium rate services; believes this move to be a final admission of BT that the delivery of these services to the market place has been unprincipled; recognises that many families and individuals have been innocently driven into debt by this; and therefore, urges BT and other network providers to write off all outstanding debts where unauthorised use can be proved.
This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
