Discriminatory Export Treatment Of Scotch Whisky
EDM number 350 in 1990-91, proposed by Bill Walker on 24/01/1991.
That this House congratulates the Scotch Whisky Association on their recent initiative requesting the European Commission to pursue and eliminate, on a reciprocal basis, all import duties and equivalent charges on spiritous beverages or, at the very least equalisation by the Community of the Common Customs Tariff on all imported bottled and bulk spirits, which would assist the Scotch whisky industry's efforts to secure fair and non-discriminatory treatment in export markets; and calls upon the Government to support the initiative.
