Competition At Heathrow

EDM number 338 in 1990-91, proposed by David Evennett on 23/01/1991.

That this House warmly welcomes the proposal by the Civil Aviation Authority that all airlines should be free to compete for access to Heathrow airport and that the antiquated rules preventing new airlines from using the airport should be abolished; notes that this is in line with Government policy on airline competition and deregulation which will increase consumer choice and improve the quality of service; and urges Her Majesty's Government to give effect to these recommendations as soon as possible to ensure that the smaller United Kingdom airlines can compete on equal terms with British Airways.
