leave out from 'Vilnius' to end and add 'and notes that a Soviet military representative compared it to Britain's action in Northern Ireland; further considers that those who condemn this violence should use the same eloquence and sentiments to oppose the violence that starting a war in the Gulf would bring; regards the 1991 actions of Soviet forces in Vilnius and, most likely, the United States and British forces in the Gulf as being reminiscent of the 1956 invasions of the Soviet forces in Hungary and the British forces in Suez; considers that those who regard those 1956 military actions wrong should also properly oppose both military actions in 1991; and further notes that Scottish Nationalist members of this House did not record a vote symbolic of opposing war in the Gulf.'.
