Mr Hughie Green And Copyright Theft
EDM number 248 in 1990-91, proposed by Roger Gale on 17/12/1990.
That, in view of the decision to deny Mr Hughie Green the due copyright protection for the show which he created, Opportunity Knocks, and the harmful consequences of this decision on all similar format programmes whose originators are no longer entitled to receive copyright payments for shows they have created, this House calls upon the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to bring forward an amendment to the Copyright Act to protect British talent from being pirated by foreign and other television stations, with consequential loss of revenue to the United Kingdom Exchequer.
This motion has been signed by a total of 83 MPs.
