Retention Of Residential Care Facilities In Bradford

EDM number 247 in 1990-91, proposed by Bob Cryer on 17/12/1990.

That this House opposes the proposed closure of Westwood Hospital, Bradford, and the withdrawal of residential care facilities existing on the site; and urges the Government to provide money to provide a village community to supplement existing provision rather than allow the majority of the site to be sold off to speculative builders and effectively sentence many mentally handicapped people to a precarious existence without much care or shelter in the community.
