FOOTBALL 'CLUB CALL' SERVICES
EDM number 182 in 1990-91, proposed by Terry Lewis on 06/12/1990.
That this House notes the unseemly dispute between British Telecom and several professional football clubs in respect of telephone `Club Call' services; is little surprised at this turn of events over what has been described by the principals in the dispute as a ú10 million `money spinner'; draws urgent attention to the fact that the bulk of this revenue is generated through the unauthorised use of other people's telephones by users of the service; and therefore urges the Director General OFTEL to enforce such regulations as exist to prevent these from being advertised mainly to young people who are not telephone subscribers.
