Labour Mistakes On Health In Langbaurgh
EDM number 1283 in 1990-91, proposed by Tim Devlin on 21/10/1991.
That this House condemns Labour's deliberate misrepresenation of the facts surrounding the Government's NHS reforms; and, in particular, condemns the activities of the Labour party in Langbaurgh; criticises the Labour candidate for having condemned an NHS trust application without having bothered to read the trust application document; notes that Labour do not know when second wave NHS trusts come into operation; acknowledges the existence of a split between the Labour candidate who says that trusts opt out of the NHS and the Labour honourable Member for Middlesbrough who wrote, on the very same day, that they do not; notes that Labour's election leaflet opposes trust status for the South Cleveland Hospital and the Cleveland Ambulance Service, but not for the Middlesbrough General Hospital and the North Riding Infirmary, which also provide vital health care services to the people of the Langbaurgh constituency; and also notes the irony of Labour's campaign slogan, It's time to make Langbaurgh count, given Labour's inability to count the number of hospitals in the South Tees Acute Group.
