ST BARTHOLOMEW'S HOSPITAL

EDM number 1279 in 1990-91, proposed by Chris Smith on 18/10/1991.

That this House is horrified to learn that patients waiting for infertility treatment at St. Bartholomew's Hospital are being told that, whilst they cannot obtain National Health Service treatment for years, they can avail themselves of a `special offer' at the private Portland Hospital and receive treatment immediately in return for a payment of ú800; believes that this is symptomatic of what is happening all too often, where patients are forced into the private sector of medicine by necessity and desperation; and accordingly gives no credence to the Government's protestations that they are not privatising the National Health Service.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
