Prime Minister And Bcci
EDM number 1209 in 1990-91, proposed by Keith Vaz on 24/07/1991.
That this House notes the recent appointment of the Prime Minister as an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers; is aware that in 1971 he became an Associate of the Institute; acknowledges that his banking experience must necessarily have been highly relevant when he was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer; and most recently recalls that the Governor of the Bank of England stated at the Treasury and Civil Service Select Comittee on 23rd July that he had meetings with the Prime Minister when he was Chancellor and discussed the Bank of Credit and Commerce International; considers it to be of great importance in view of the recent controversy that a copy of the minutes of these meetings be placed forthwith in the Library in order that all honourable Members can be informed of the deliberations contained therein.
