Prospects For The Textile Industry
EDM number 1208 in 1990-91, proposed by Bob Cryer on 24/07/1991.
That this House calls upon the Government to negotiate a clear position for the retention and development of the United Kingdom textile industry in the G.A.T.T. arrangements retaining all the components of the Multi-Fibre Arrangement including facilities to prevent unfair subsidies, counterfeiting and swift action against dumping; and recognises that these are the minimum requirements to enable a modernised industry with a co-operative workforce to retain jobs in an important part of British manufacturing industry.
