Barclays Bank And Small Businesses

That this House calls on Barclays Bank to stop penalising small businesses by ending the practice of tying the interest rate offered on loans to small businesses with their own insurance cover which costs some thirty per cent. more than insurance cover available with other companies; urges Barclays Bank to issue clear instructions to all its branches to prevent this practice from continuing; and calls on the Office of Fair Trading to issue its own intructions to all banks and lending institutions, making it quite clear that this practice is unacceptable.
