London Borough Of Bromley (No 2)

EDM number 1179 in 1990-91, proposed by Jeff Rooker on 23/07/1991.

That this House is concerned that the London Borough of Bromley continues to operate a home shopping service which instead of allowing the housebound to have a local carer shop locally for them requires them to order items from a catalogue of supplies by ASDA in the Isle of Dogs; notes that the scheme was introduced without consultation in order to produce cuts in the social service budget; realises that this policy does not assist the local economy in Bromley; understands it offers no redress for complaints; is appalled that the deliveries are not made in refrigerated vans; is worried that it has been known to supply time expired food items and has required the elderly and housebound to have had to take deliveries after 9 p.m. at night from strangers; and calls upon the London Borough of Bromley to restore the chance for local choice or at least offer the contract out to tender to supermarkets based in Bromley.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
