Conduct Of The Under Secretary Of State For Wales

EDM number 1153 in 1990-91, proposed by Huw Edwards on 17/07/1991.

That this House condemns the remarks made by the Under Secretary of State for Wales alluding to homeless people with mental health problems as the modern equivalent of `the village idiot' and claiming that the problem of homelessness is not part of a housing crisis; calls upon him to make a public apology for his extraordinary and extremely offensive remarks; and asserts that Wales needs a Health Minister who displays compassion and understanding of mental health issues, not insensitivity and bigotry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
