MOROCCO'S OCCUPATION OF WESTERN SAHARA
EDM number 114 in 1990-91, proposed by Audrey Wise on 23/11/1990.
That this House welcomes the establishment of the Western Sahara Campaign Women's Section; applauds the amazing achievements of the women of Western Sahara who, having had to flee their homes when their land was over-run by Moroccan troops, have, even in their refugee camps, built a new society in which literacy, health care and the welfare of children take priority; and therefore calls on the Government to give humanitarian aid to the Saharawis, especially the women and children, to prevent arms sales to Morocco, and to use all possible influence to encourage Morocco to release Saharawi prisoners and withdraw their troops so as to facilitate a fair referendum of self-determination for the Saharawi people without any military or administrative constraint as expressed in United Nations resolution 4488 (1989).
This motion has been signed by a total of 64 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
