Fire Safety In Schools

EDM number 1102 in 1990-91, proposed by Alice Mahon on 10/07/1991.

That this House urges the Government to bring all school premises under the jurisdiction of the Fire Precautions Act 1971, thus allowing fire authorities to require, rather than request, local authorities and governing bodies to carry out life-saving fire precaution measures; and further congratulates Martyn Fryer of the Fire Brigades Union and Sean Hilliard of the National Union of Public Employees for their hard work in bringing this dangerous and appalling situation to the attention of the public.
