KING'S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS

EDM number 1083 in 1990-91, proposed by Archy Kirkwood on 08/07/1991.

That this House believes that any reduction in the armed forces should not include the amalgamation or disbandment of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, a regiment with a distinguished and valorous history extending 302 years; recognises the affection and loyalty that the King's Own Scottish Borderers commands in the community from which it recruits; further recognises the contribution that the regiment has made to the Borders; and acknowledges the regiment's excellent retention and recruitment record and the importance of such in assessing reductions in the country's armed forces.
