Playgroup Fee Exemption

EDM number 1079 in 1990-91, proposed by Archy Kirkwood on 08/07/1991.

That this House, while welcoming the implementation of section 10 of the Children Act 1989 as a positive step in further safeguarding children and establishing acceptable standards in the care of young children, nevertheless calls on Her Majesty's Government to exempt non-profit making playgroups from registration and inspection fees on the grounds that any level of fee would impose an additional financial burden which they cannot afford.
