Conduct Of The Prime Minister

EDM number 1075 in 1990-91, proposed by Alan Williams on 04/07/1991.

That this House condemns the Prime Minister for his part in creating a version of his classless society which is typified now by the emergence of a new breed of robber-barons, the heads of the privatised monopolies, who behave like commercial parasites in milking their helpless customers and then pocketing vast unearned shares of these monopoly spoils; and believes that this amounts to corporate mugging of the public while the Prime Minister, who helped give them their position of uncontrollable power, merely stands aside wringing his hands, professing his helplessness while urging the workers in those same industries and the customers of those industries to exercise pay restraint.
