Midland Main Line Electrification

EDM number 1071 in 1990-91, proposed by Harry Barnes on 03/07/1991.

That this House notes that the Department of Transport's East Midlands brief entitled Moving into the 90s, contains the comment that Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire County Councils together with Sheffield City Council have now commissioned consultants to carry out a strategic study of the Midlands Main Line and are pressing for its eventual electrification; and regrets that the brief fails to give any support or commitment to this project which is especially essential for the future well-being of areas of high population in the East Midlands.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
