Harris City Technology College
EDM number 1065 in 1990-91, proposed by Derek Fatchett on 02/07/1991.
That this House notes with interest that the Prime Minister should have chosen to open the Harris City Technology College, Croydon, today and believes that the visit is redolent with symbolism in that the parents of the Sylvan School now converted into the Harris City Technology College voted overwhelmingly against being turned into such a school, that the taxpayer has been forced to pay ú6.9 million whilst private donors have put up only ú1.7 million, that the principal donor Sir Philip Harris is also Chairman of the Guys Hospital Trust and a major donor to the Tory Party, and that the company he founded, Queensway, has just gone bust.
