Credit Reference Agencies

EDM number 106 in 1990-91, proposed by Douglas French on 21/11/1990.

That this House welcomes the enforcement action being taken by the Data Protection Registrar against credit reference agencies to prevent them supplying misleading credit information in breach of the First Data Protection Principle; expresses its concern that some of the agencies are challenging the registrar's order; and urges Her Majesty's Government to take urgent action to prevent this flagrant breach of the law.
