Conduct Of The Rt Hon Member For Islwyn And The Prime Minister

EDM number 105 in 1990-91, proposed by Jim Sillars on 21/11/1990.

That this House expresses no surprise that the Leader of the Labour Party in his desire to save the Prime Minister has tabled a no confidence motion which he knows she will win and will serve to unite the Conservative Party around her; notes that as a consequence a critical debate on the crisis facing the Scottish steel industry has been abandoned; notes that this is a repeat of his tactic during the Gartcosh closure crisis when he ditched an agreed debate to pursue the Westland affair, to no purpose; draws the conclusion that the Right honourable Gentleman's chief interest in Scotland is votes and not the real problems facing the Scottish people; and further notes that either by incompetence or design he has always been able to save the Prime Minister when she faced a crisis.

This motion has been signed by a total of 5 MPs.
