Inhumane Weapons
EDM number 1021 in 1990-91, proposed by Paul Flynn on 24/06/1991.
That this House notes that Michael Klare, an American authority on fuel air explosive, said that this weapon was designed "to produce nuclear-like levels of destruction without arousing popular revulsion"; believes that the widespread use of the annihilation weapons of FAEs, cluster bombs and daisy cutters in the Gulf war was an escalation into warfare of a new barbarism of mass slaughter; recalls that only 7.4 per cent. of the bombs dropped by the coalition were precision ones and the so-called "clean war" was fought with very dirty weapons that should be included in the Inhumane Weapons protocol of 1981 in order to control their future manufacture, sale and deployment.
