Lithuania

EDM number 956 in 1989-90, proposed by James Pawsey on 08/05/1990.

That this House, recalling that the United Kingdom has never recognised the war-time occupation of the Baltic States in 1940 or their enforced encampment in the Soviet Union, warmly welcomes the visit by the Lithuanian Prime Minister, Mrs Kazimiera Prunskiene, to this country; endorses her Government's demand for acceptance of the 11th March reaffirmation of independence; and urges Her Majesty's Government to use their best endeavours to secure a peaceful resolution of the dispute between Lithuania and the Soviet Union.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
