Community Centre Site, Tufton Street/marsham Street

That this House is appalled to note that Westminster City Council have taken a decision to allow the demolition of the Community Centre site in Tufton Street/Marsham Street to go ahead; further notes that this diversity of buildings on a historical site is of sufficient interest and merit to be made part of a conservation area, and includes the Women's Suffrage Hall which is of great historical interest and a fine example of 1920's classical design; notes the interior of 50 Tufton Street is also of considerable interest; believes that to allow the destruction of this unique group of buildings with their historical importance and their connection with Women's Suffrage and the Fawcett Library would be to deprive us all of a positive heritage; and calls upon the Department of the Environment to refuse permission for this appalling destruction to go ahead.
