Remarks Of The Hon Member For Cardiff Central And The Towyn Flooding

EDM number 933 in 1989-90, proposed by John Marek on 01/05/1990.

That this House deplores the description by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, the honourable Member for Cardiff Central, of the victims of the Towyn Floods as bleeding hearts; has great sympathy for those elderly people who, on paying off their mortgages, inadvertently neglected to take out house insurance which they had previously paid together with their mortgage repayments; believes that such remarks are typical of the unfeeling attitude of the present day Tory Party; and calls upon the Prime Minister to disown the remarks and provide genuine and comprehensive help for all those in distress as a result of the Towyn disaster,

This motion has been ammended, see 1059A1.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
