Miss Maki Mandela And Sanctions Against South Africa
EDM number 902 in 1989-90, proposed by Nicholas Winterton on 26/04/1990.
That this House notes with considerable interest the comments of Miss Maki Mandela, daughter of Nelson Mandela, who during a recent address to the Dade Community College in Florida, criticised the African National Congress policy of calling for more sanctions against South Africa; further notes that Miss Mandela, who is a social worker in Transkei, urged people rather than talking to her father to speak to the poor and unemployed of Soweto about sanctions; and confirms its opposition to the use of economic sanctions against the people of South Africa.
This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
