Policies Of The Government, The Prime Minister And Racism In British Schools

That this House like the great majority of the British people finds racism repellent; reminds Her Majesty's Government that, at a great human and economic cost, this country fought and won a war against Nazi racism; is, therefore, dismayed that an ill-advised decision by the Secretary of State for Education and Science, no doubt pushed by the Prime Minister, has now opened the way to racist prejudices under the guise of parental choice and evoked the origins of apartheid; expresses its deepest sympathies to all British school children for this step towards school segregation which will harm their prospects to live, as has been the case for many centuries, enriched by the constant influx of other traditions and values; apologises to British school children of Asian and other ethnic minorities and to their families for this act of cultural vandalism and the hurt inflicted upon them which adds to the racist attacks daily suffered by them; and expresses its will to do whatever possible to help clean up the school system from this kind of prejudice.
