Summer Time

EDM number 89 in 1989-90, proposed by Teresa Gorman on 28/11/1989.

That this House views with alarm the proposal set out in the Green Paper, Summer Time - A Consultation Document, that the British people should once again be subject to an experiment which would require them to start their day before the crack of dawn, at an hour when most people are still a-bed, in order to satisfy the whims of European businessman; notes that when the previous experiment was conducted over the three years ended in 1971 it was rejected by the British public; notes that on other continents the variation in time zones causes no economic disharmony; and urges the Government to reject the Green Paper proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
