Hong Kong Customs Operation Against Computer Piracy

That this House congratulates the officers of the Hong Kong customs investigation branch on their massive operation against computer piracy which led on November 14th 1989 to the largest ever seizure of 109,437 suspected pirated computer manuals, 23,574 disketlos, six sets of computers, 1,126 printing films, 30,900 loose printed sheets and 2,050 blank disketlos the sale of which would displace legitimate sales of between 30-50 million United States dollars, and in so doing smashed a huge syndicate believed to be responsible for the supply of two-thirds of illegal pirated computer software and manuals in Hong Kong; and urges all the countries of the world to take equally determined action to eradicate computer software piracy.
