Secretary of State's Appointment of the Chairman of Barnsley District Health Authority

EDM number 822 in 1989-90, proposed by Eric Illsley on 30/03/1990.

That this House regrets the refusal of the Secretary of State for Health to re-appoint Mr Jack Wake to the Chairmanship of Barnsley District Health Authority on the termination of his current term of office; congratulates Mr Wake on his eight years as Chairman and wishes him well in his retirement from that office; condemns the blatantly political appointment of his successor, Alison Cook, who takes up the Chairmanship of Barnsley District Health Authority despite her total lack of experience in this field; and further condemns the Secretary of State's lack of consultation with the local authority, local politicians, constituency honourable Members and other health bodies before making such an unfortunate appointment.'.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
