Breach Of International Law By Usa On Television Transmissions To Cuba
EDM number 821 in 1989-90, proposed by Audrey Wise on 29/03/1990.
That this House notes that the United States is planning to break international law and telecommunications agreements by setting up a new station, TV Marti, to transmit propaganda to Cuba; further notes that the United States has consistently sought to destabilise and overthrow the Cuban government, through propaganda and disinformation campaigns, the Bay of Pigs sponsored invasion, and the economic blockade; and therefore calls on Her Majesty's Government to oppose this proposed violation of Cuba's sovereign rights and to urge President Bush to abandon this aggressive action and instead, enter into serious discussions with Fidel Castro about lifting the United States economic blockade of Cuba and normalising relationships between the two countries.
