South Glamorgan Health Service

EDM number 772 in 1989-90, proposed by Alun Michael on 21/03/1990.

That this House notes with regret that underfunding by the Welsh Office has forced South Glamorgan Health Authority to sell valuable sites to help meet a budget shortfall of ú7.2 million; regards the disposal of capital assets to meet revenue commitments as akin to selling off the family silver; notes that ú3.7 million of the shortfall arises because the Government has reneged on its commitment to reinstate the underfunding in 1989-90 for inflation costs; is alarmed that current Health Service provision in the country is in disarray and that the 10 year health plan is now meaningless; and calls on the Secretary of State for Wales to provide an adequate level of finance to the Health Service in South Glamorgan and throughout Wales.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
