Managerial Practices At Ollerton Colliery, Nottinghamshire (No. 2)

That this House, having noted the response to Early Day Motion No. 721 by the Nottinghamshire Area of British Coal, admitting that they authorised Mr Benny Wells, Administration Officer at Ollerton Colliery, Nottinghamshire, to take an unspecified number of surface workers off colliery premises for the purpose of building a stable for horses at his home for his daughter, whilst they were being paid for being at work at the Colliery, from public funds administered by Mr Wells on behalf of British Coal, calls on the Secretary of State for Energy and Mr Attorney General to initiate an investigation into the accounting practises at Ollerton Colliery to determine if the accounts have been properly managed and audited in compliance with Inland Revenue legislation and to establish all costs involved, regarding material, labour, transport and Value-Added Tax; and demands that the results of the investigation should be reported to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
