Independent Living Fund

EDM number 757 in 1989-90, proposed by Joyce Quin on 20/03/1990.

That this House, recognises that the Independent Living Fund is now the only source of flexible discretionary help for severely disabled people, would condemn any attempt to restrict or close it down; notes that the work of the Fund makes life tolerable for many disabled people, keeping some out of institutions; and calls upon the Government to preserve and expand the Fund according to the needs of severely disabled people seeking to retain their dignity and independence.
