Loss Of Jobs In Liverpool
EDM number 74 in 1989-90, proposed by David Alton on 27/11/1989.
That this House notes with dismay the decision of BAT to close its Liverpool factory with a consequential loss of 479 jobs; believes that at a time when Liverpool's economy has been showing modest signs of improvement this decision is untimely, socially irresponsible and wholly avoidable; and calls on the management of BAT to initiate talks with Liverpool's civic and political leaders in an attempt to save jobs and to secure the future of the families affected by this decision.
