Managerial Practices At Ollerton Colliery, Notts

EDM number 721 in 1989-90, proposed by Jim Hood on 13/03/1990.

That this House expresses its concern at the recent expose of the senior Ollerton Colliery official who had a stable built at his home for his daughter's horse by surface workers employed at Ollerton Colliery, whilst they were being paid for being at work; considers that the eight days taken by these men to build their boss a stable should not have been paid for from the public funds of British Coal; calls on the Area Director to make a statement on this disgraceful abuse by Mr B Wells, the official concerned, and seeks the assurance that such conduct is not condoned and that the cost of this elaborate stable will not be met from public funds; and further notes that Mr Wells is the person responsible for administering discipline at the colliery for all the workforce where many surface workers have been disciplined for not being at their workplace by Mr Wells.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
