Instalment Payments For Tv Licences

EDM number 681 in 1989-90, proposed by Alan Meale on 08/03/1990.

That this House calls on the Government to extend the current pay as you go instalment scheme for television licence purchases to people who have monochrome rather than colour television sets; and believes that such an extension of the scheme will help in the interim many people who may be elderly, disabled, low paid or unemployed and who cannot afford a colour television, to watch their set legally, until such times as their need to be exempt from having to acquire a licence is finally recognised by Government.
